Vincent Stanzione is an anthropologist and researcher specializing in ancient and contemporary Mayan religion. He has lived in the Guatemalan highlands and worked alongside the Tz’utujil Maya of Santiago Atitlán for over 30 years, participating in authentic Maya ritual. Some of his notable publications include Los Nawales: The Ancient Ones, Merchants, Wives and Lovers: The Creation Story of Maximón; Rituals of Sacrifice: Walking the Face of the Earth on the Sacred Path of the Sun; Mayan Gods and Goddesses and The Sacred Count of Days.
